How Can I Organise My Classified Ads?

HOW CAN I ORGANISE MY CLASSIFIED ADS?
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson

How often do you submit classified ads on the internet? Daily, weekly, monthly? However often you do, I bet you do it more often than you'd like to. That's not necessarily a bad thing.  You need to advertise so other people know you're out there.

How organised are you though?  Do you compose a new ad every time you place an ad or do you copy and paste the ad copy, forward an email, change the data etc. etc.?  It can certainly become a monotonous, timely chore and being well organised can have great benefits.  Creating a document that holds your precious ads can save you time!

Just think:

1. If you ever lose your inbox emails, you have a copy of your ads and the related links saved in a different place on your computer, so it also acts as a backup.
2. You don't have to go searching through your inbox folders for your affiliate link or go to the site to find the recommended ads etc.
3. Placing an ad via email or directly to a site can now take half the time because you have the ad preformatted with the correct number of characters per line.

So organising your ads starts as soon as you join a new program. Here's what to do and I've used MS Word as the example program to use:

1. You receive a welcome email from a new program you've joined and it contains your affiliate link.  Copy the link.
2. Open your word document, I call mine Ads.doc (original huh?). At the top of the document in the index, type in the name of the program in alphabetical order, eg.

EvieB's New-Z - Paste your promotion link here, eg. http://www.evieb.com/new-z.html

You will end up with a list of program names and links here at the top of the document.

3. Scroll down to where the program will appear in your document alphabetically and type the name of the program again.
4. Select the name and insert a bookmark, (insert, bookmark, type in abbreviated name of program). Bold the name of the program so it stands out.
5. The line above the name is a good place to insert a horizontal line format, borders and shading, horizontal line, ok).  I also place a 'back to the top' hyperlink above the line - then I copy and past the line and the link above each program name so if I want to get back to the top quickly, I can.
6. Paste the link in again after the name of the program.
7. Now go back to the top of the document, select the name of the program and insert a hyperlink to your bookmark (click the hyperlink button on your toolbar, click on bookmarks, and select the bookmark you just created).
8. Now when you open the document and you want to copy an ad for a particular program, you just click on the name and it will take you to the right place.
9. Visit the site of the new program and copy ads, email letters etc. or copy them from your welcome email and paste them into the correct place under the name of the program.  Create your own ads, format your ads for emails etc. or to the ezine's guidelines that you will be sending.
10. If you use ad tracking facilities, you will want to add your tracking link under the name of the program in the body of the document as well.

Once you have your document started, it's easy to add new programs and ads to it.  I've had my document going for about 1.5 years and it's now 75 pages long!  I also send it to work so if I'm placing any ads from there, I know all the links! Verrry handy!  Remember to always test your links to make sure they work, then you can trust your Ads.doc implicitly!

Have a go at setting your own up and see how much easier and quicker it is to select ads that you have used previously and know work!  If you have any trouble setting your document up at all, feel free to email me and I will set it up for you and email it to you.

You can also use the document for keeping track of URL submissions to search engines and FFA Submitters etc. as well, depending on the services and the software you utilise.

This document also comes in handy for copying your program links if you're using a traffic generation program and adding and deleting sites. Just open the document and copy the appropriate link from the index and paste it into the site where you're working.

Due to many requests, I have created a sample that you can download here.

Have a go at your own and let me know what you think.  Good luck and happy advertisement placing!

HOW TO MANAGE & MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR AD CAMPAIGN

HOW TO MANAGE & MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR AD CAMPAIGN
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson

This article will show you how easy it is to conduct an ad campaign that will increase the amount of hits or sales you receive from a published ad.

You've found a program you really like.  You feel that the potential is there for the program to work and generate a decent income. It's not a pie in the sky, it's a fair dinkum professional business that you know can help you and others like you.

GREAT! Now what?  Do I sit here and wait for something to happen? Ahm noooo..... You have to Promote your program so people will join you in the quest for 'freedom'!

Okay, so you've got your referral links right? Yes! You've copied some ads from the relevant site. Well not all sites do supply sample sales letters or ad copy.  That's okay! Just read through the introduction page and sometimes even the FAQ's and you'll find the information you need to tell people what's in it for them!  That's usually all people want to know... What's in it for me? What do I get for working this program?

So you formulate the ad, but how do you know that it will work? Easy. You test the ad copy by testing a few ads.

This is what you do:

Choose some ezines where you can place free ads, or if you are financially unchallenged, some paid solo ezine ads.  Spend some time preparing the ads that you will place and make each one different.  This test is to see how well the ad copy works.  Once you have your content in place, change the first subject line to use words that will grab the reader's attention. This also applies to the content as well, but it's your ad and it's entirely up to you.

You all know about email speed reading.  We all do it. Scan, scan, scan, STOP, hey that caught my attention, read, read, okay, scan, scan, scan... and so on.  We do it every day.  Can you remember what grabs your attention?  Good!  If not, copy it or enter it into a document (your Ads.doc) for future reference.  Copy, change, use newspapers and magazines, the tv, words in a meeting, wherever you get the words from, it's okay as long as it isn't copyrighted.  Use your imagination! Be
outrageous, outlandish, be forward. If you're shy, no one on the internet knows that! Be arrogant! Just be different, while still being yourself - if you can.

So we've got a good ad? Well yes, we think we have about five different ads for the one program.  Good.  Place them in different ezines and wait for them to be published.

This is where your ad campaign comes into action.  The link you have placed in the ad is not the original link you receive from the program when you joined.  It's a redirect link with a special code
in it so you know which ezine ad link was clicked on.

So how do I generate a redirect link for my referral link?  There are a number of options you can choose from:

I personally use Ad-Alyzer:
Enter your referral ID.  Add some notes so you know which program the link relates to and which ezine you're advertising it in, then enter an abbreviated 'code' that will jog your memory as to what the link is. It really doesn't matter if you don't remember. You might have 20 or more ad campaigns running at one time, but you can always check your notes to see which particular one a particular code relates to.  And remembers, always test your code to make sure it works!
Cost: Free. Definitely worthwhile. Ad-Alyzer or Add2It Go-To.

Next, you need to generate a report at the end of one week to see which ad brought in the most hits.  So you can see all your five ads and the quantity of clicks generated by each ad.  You do this in the reporting utility of the ad campaign program you use by entering the first and last date and submitting. Wow! So the ad with 57 clicks compared to the ad with 24 clicks is definitely a winner! That's right, that is the ad you place a paid solo ad for.  Just place it in an ezine with a large amount of subscribers or one that is very responsive, depending on your budget of course.  But you can also use the solo ad in safe lists that you belong to, in your classified ad submissions, in your signature, more free ezine ads and wherever else you normally advertise.

Make sure you save your report by clicking on File, Save As and save the report to a folder called "Ad Campaign Reports". Very handy if you want to remember how you're ad campaign went and also how good the response from each ezine was. Alternatively, you can make a note of the 'rating' you give your own ads in your Ads.doc next to the ads.  I personally place the best ranking ads at the top underneath my program heading so they're easy to access.

Take the time out to conduct a proper ad campaign and use the ad copy that receives the best response.  How often do you place ads that receive a very small response.  It's really just a waste of your time.  Time which could be better utilised by testing your ad copy to ensure it achieves the desired results.

If you haven't done so already, try out an ad campaign and let me know how it goes.  We all like to hear about ad campaigns that work, generate hits and make sales!

If you're wondering what the referral to (Ads.doc) is, then take a look at my previous article called "How Do I Organise My Classified Ads?"

Now go place some ads! Good Luck!

FREE TOOLS TO SOURCE DISTINCTIVE VOCABULARY
FOR YOUR ADS

FREE TOOLS TO SOURCE DISTINCTIVE VOCABULARY FOR YOUR ADS
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson

When you read through classified ads, what is it about an ad that catches your attention?  Is it the headline, symbols used, the ad copy itself or even a spelling mistake? Sometimes it can be a single 'different' word that might look out of place or it might be a powerful phrase.  But whatever it is, it grabs you and makes you read to the end of the ad.  Your mission has been accomplished!

This article will explore some of the tools and resources you can use to obtain distinctive vocabulary to increase your 'word repertoire'. Use these new words in your ads to make them *STAND OUT* from the crowd!

When I say 'different' words, I mean unusual, out of the ordinary, unique and distinctive vocabulary. The internet is a world of its own and a lot of what we learned at English in school regarding sentence construction has gone right out the window! Granted, a lot of us like to remain civilised and use the 'correct' form of sentence construction, but if you don't, you can get away with it without losing marks!  You can use slang words and you can abbreviate words to shorten the character length of a line.  Space is an important issue when placing an ad and we're forever being restricted regarding the amount of space we are permitted to use.

Many ads are written in the present context where you are attempting tell the reader about something that you think is worth their time and efforts to explore.  Let's look at an example of the vocabulary that can be used in advertising.

Exclamation Vocabulary:
Here are some exclamation words and phrases that I've seen used many
times in ads.

- WOW!
- Fantastic!
- Check this OUT!
- Oh My God, I can't BELIEVE it!
- This is AMAZING!
- Never SEEN Before!

These are just a few of the many words that you regularly see used in ads. Now let's use some nifty tools to create some new words.

*FREE TOOLS*
Using the following tools, we will find some distinctive vocabulary to use in place of the word 'fantastic'.

Thesaurus:
You've all heard of a 'thesaurus' right? And no, it's not a dinosaur! A thesaurus is used to find other words for a particular word, or synonyms. I personally use the thesaurus that comes with MS Word
and it can be accessed by clicking on the Tools menu, then clicking on Language and Thesaurus.  Alternatively, you can use online thesauri for free like the following:

Merriam-Webster Online Thesaurus & Dictionary:

The Semantic Rhyming Dictionary: http://www.rhymezone.com

Out of this world

The great outdoors
The great unwashed
The great white hope

Trip the light fantastic

So now you have four more tools that can be utilised to change words in your ad copy for more distinctive, descriptive vocabulary. Make these words stand out by including them in your headline,
making them rhyme, CAPITALISING (not too many words please!), or adding an asterisk on either side of the word or phrase like *THIS*.

If you join a new program and copy the affiliate email sales letters or ad copy provided by the company, just think how many other affiliates will be using the same ad!  Choose a descriptive
exclamation word and use your new tools to come up with some new ad copy that will be different from the other affiliate's ad copy! Test and track your ads for response rates. Hopefully the
response will be higher than you expected!

Don't be a sheep - lead the way and let your ad copy stand out from the crowd!  Always be an individual by using distinctive vocabulary!

I WISH MY TIME ONLINE COULD BE MORE PRODUCTIVE!
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson - http://www.evieb.com

Imagine, you have your day planned. You have to go to work for eight hours where you have a tonne of jobs scheduled, you have a lunch time appointment with a friend, you need to stop off and buy some food to go with dinner, you pick up one of the children on the way home, you get home and talk to your family while you're preparing dinner, you catch the end of the news while you're eating dinner, then you need to go online and promote your business and read your emails!

This is probably a small part of an ordinary day for any working person who also has an online business. Agreed?

How often do you find that the hours have just passed so quickly while you are reading and working online and you haven't achieved half the things that you hoped to?  More than 50% of the time?  You need help! Let's face it, we probably ALL do!

We can't squeeze more hours out of the day and stay healthy by missing out on precious sleep.  The time we spend online could also be used to do other things that require our attention as well! So what can we do to ensure our time online is more productive?

Think about organising your tasks and creating a work plan. Hmmm, sounds like a good idea... but how?

It's no good just saying to yourself "I'm just going to read my emails". Is that what you really do? Probably not. (Four hours later...) You read an email, something in it requires follow up and you click on a link and voila! You're off surfing the web and getting sidetracked investigating 'other' things that don't require as much attention as your emails do.

We all know how easy it is to let our inboxes get overloaded with email! That's another article in itself! But let me just suggest one thing, you must, I repeat, MUST use filters to sort your email so you save time by not having to scan and sort incoming emails.

When you go online, organise the things that you know call for immediate action.  They are the number one priorities for you in that particular online session.  Write them down on a piece of paper that you have next to your computer. (Find a 'clean' piece though okay!).

For example, you might write down the following:
1. Read incoming ezines.
2. Submit free ads to ezines.
3. Submit classified ads online.
4. Update web page.
5. Upload web page to server.
6. Send reply emails.
7. Use traffic generator tools to earn hits.

This is where you plan what you will do and you need to try and stick to the plan without getting distracted.  If you're like me, email is the biggest distraction, so I turn the sound for incoming emails off and listen to music instead.  I can still see that I have email waiting to be read, but I don't feel the urgency without that little 'ding' sound! (Must be psychosomatic!).

A good idea is to multi-task by starting your online ad/URL submissions and traffic generator tools so they run in the background while you are reading your email.  It's not much use being online if you are only reading emails, when automated programs can help by doing some of your work for you.  Open a few windows at once at get them working in separate browser windows.  (I usually open five!). Some of the automated programs you are running might need checking back with
during your time online to see if they're finished and you can start another submission etc.  Just don't get distracted! Do it and go back to your email reading.

I always note in my Ads.doc the submissions that I have made to World Submitter as I have 30 profiles in place and submit a handful each day.  This program is a great background worker and can be found at
http://tinyurl.com/sxye. Free members can have five profiles which can be changed at any time so it's worth it to join for free and utilise it to do your submissions for you.

When you read your email, if it requires answering or you need to submit a free ad to an ezine, do it straight away. People appreciate prompt replies to emails. Then file your reply email in the same folder as the original email is filed in (hopefully done automatically by email filter/rules).  If you don't need the email any more, delete it. Don't leave read email in your inbox to be reread at a later date unless it's important that you do so.  Otherwise you are wasting your valuable time.  The aim is to empty your inbox by the time you've finished reading and filing your emails.  Just like clearing your desk by the end of the day. (I know, some of you never do! That's okay! You know where everything is! <grin>).

If there's a link that you want to follow through in an email, right click on it and add it to your favorites folder.  If you have Outlook Express, you can only save one link and it is automatically called "Favorites from Outlook Express".  That's it, just one.  So you might want to right click on a url, copy it and paste it into a document called "Sites to Check Out Later" or just click on it to open a window and go and save it to your bookmarks from the browser page. Save it in a subfolder you create called "To Be Checked Out" or any name you like. But whatever you do, check it out LATER.  Some people even prefer to tick the "Make Available Offline" option when saving a bookmark so they can do just that - check it out offline.

If you receive a spam email and you don't use an anti-spam program, reply with remove and add it to your blocked sender's list in your email program.  I wouldn't bother too much with going to web site removal systems as I don't believe they work.  I even sometimes think that they probably harvest email addresses!  Often you can't even tell which email address the spam email was sent to in the first place and you might actually be adding a new email address into their database.  It's an intrusion any way you look at it though, but at least if you block the address, you won't have to see their emails any more.

Before you exit your email program, always check the sent folder to make sure there aren't any emails that you need to file.  Use the tools options in your email program to delete your trash when you exit and compact your email every now and then.

As you are completing the tasks on your plan, tick them off. (Ah, that feels good!).  When you are done reading your emails, close your email program.  Otherwise, if you prefer, leave it open but only go to it every half hour or hour to check as it will distract you again.

Your ad submissions are going well while you've been reading your emails and your traffic generating programs are all moving along nicely racking up those hits to your sites.  Good!

Once you've read your emails, you can update your web pages and upload them to your server.  Then you can view them to make sure they are viewing properly online.  Don't close your html editing program or your FTP program once you've uploaded your pages though as there is always something that needs changing again isn't there!

Look at the time regularly when you work online so you know how long your work is taking you.  Some people even use reminders to take a coffee break or to remember to do another task. (Oh no! I forgot to pick the kids up!!).

Organise yourself and set a work plan.  It doesn't have to be as big as the one I used in the example, it all depends on the time you have available and what you hope to achieve in that time.  Just ensure that you stick to your plan and tick it off, item by item.  Do this and you can be sure that your time online will be much more productive.

Oh and the outside distractions, like family, friends and pets? Well you'll just have to train your family to cook for you and clean the house etc. and the friends, they can't reach you anyway because you have the phone line tied up while you're on the internet!! Send them an email! :^)

Remain focused on the work you need to do and it will get done!  Then you will have more time to do the 'other' things in life, like spending time with the family, going to the beach... ____________________________________________________________

HOW CAN YOU BE FULLY PREPARED FOR COMPUTER "CRISES"?
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson

In the face of a computer crisis, how long will it take you to get back online and back in action promoting again?  You can't afford to be off-line unexpectedly for days at a time when you have customers waiting for your action or a reply to an email can you?  Therefore preparation in the face of adversity is called for.  This article will explain which items are important for online communications and show you how to save and restore those objects that are vital for your online business.

A computer crisis comes in many forms.  Have you had one of your own yet?  They usually occur when you are a newbie and I guess it is a great way to learn more about the 'wonders' of your computer! I think they are called 'wonders' because people are always saying "I wonder why it just did that?!"

No matter if you are a newbie or an 'old hand' with computers, crises are a total inconvenience and always happen when you least expect or want it to.  Here are the various forms of crises that can occur:

- Virus Contamination: You get infected with a virus like Nimda, a Trojan, Hybrid or Worm etc. and lose files, send unknown emails to your friends spreading the virus etc. etc.

- Hardware Problem: Your battery has leaked all over your brand new motherboard and your computer does some really weird stuff.

- Software Problem: Your operating system is doing all kinds of strange things and you need to reinstall Windows.

- New System: You buy a new computer and everything from my old computer is still on my old computer...

- Unexplained: Many things fall into this category, like they do with computers! But it usually involves reformatting the hard drive. What? This action will delete ALL my files? hmmm...

Whatever has happened in the past or could happen in the future, a computer crisis certainly has the ability to put you offline for at least 24 hrs or more.  So get the problem fixed as soon as you can and get back online.

Let's assume your computer is now fixed, but you've lost all your precious internet files.  Of course you're upset about the time you will have to spend in setting up everything again and trying to
remember the important links, logins and passwords etc.  FACT: You won't remember them all.  It's as simple as that.  So what do you do?  You can't sit around waiting to receive emails from the companies you're involved with so you can get the details you need... too time consuming.  How could I keep that information in a form that is easy to restore if this happens again?

It's simply a matter of preparing yourself fully for a crisis by backing up the important data from your computer onto another medium, eg. uploading to the internet, floppy disk, zip drive, cd rom
etc. and doing it on a regular basis.  How often?  It all depends how important your data is to you.

The most common options for backup:

- Use a backup program on your computer or an online backup service.
- Upload your files to a free webspace provider. (Can be time consuming if you have a large amount of data).
- Copy your files to floppy disk.  (Good option if you don't have a lot of data).
- Copy your files to a zip drive.  (Good option if you have under 1 GB of data, but the zip tapes can sometimes be costly).
- Burn your files to a CD rom or DVD.  (Best option if you have a large amount of data, plus they're are inexpensive to purchase).

Now that you have a means of backing up your files, which files are the ones that are important?

These are the important files to back up so you need to know where they are located:

- Your mail files which hold all of your emails. The help file in your email program should tell you the location of your email files if you don't know.  Generally, with Outlook, you can browse and choose the mail storage folder (I call mine Email).  With Netscape, the email folder is a subfolder of the Netscape folder.  Just copy all the Netscape mail folders and their subfolders to be sure.

- Your Email Address Book.  This would be backed up by exporting your email addresses to a file and copying that file to your backup medium.  Just make sure of the file type by clicking on import address book in your File menu in your email program and check the file type that can be imported for later reference.

- The favorites folder which is located in the Windows\Favorites folder, unless you are using a browser other than  MS Explorer, where it may be located in a different place on your hard drive.  In that case, go to Windows Explorer (sorry Mac users) and click on Tools, Find, Files or Folders and conduct a search for your favorites folder.

- The Cookies folder which is located in the Windows\Cookies folder on your hard drive, or search again as shown above.

Passwords and login information is usually received in an email from the particular company, so that data should be in your email folders. Some people choose to create a document that contains the name of the company, your login and password data and your associated link to that company.  This can be very handy if you get used to adding to it whenever you join something new.

To restore your data, simply copy the cookies and favorites folder to replace your new folders in Windows (which should be practically empty now).  If you know the location of your email folder, you can copy the folders and files directly to that location or you can import your email from within your email program.  Sometimes this can be a tricky manoeuvre, so if you're unsure, just check your help file. Address books can be easily restored by clicking on the File Menu, then on Import, Address Book (or check your email help file if this is different in your program).

If you back this data up regularly, whenever you are faced with an unexpected crisis on your computer, you can rest assured that your valuable information can be restored in a flash and you will be back online again as soon as your computer is fixed.  If it happens to you, you might lose one or two days worth of data, depending on how often you carry out your backup procedure. As the saying goes, "Better to be safe than sorry" and "Forewarned is Forearmed"! ____________________________________________________________

PPC SEARCH ENGINES: ANOTHER FORM OF FREE TRAFFIC THAT PAYS YOU!
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson

There are Pay Per Click (PPC) search engines cropping up everywhere on the net and they really want your business.  Why should the larger more successful search engines like Yahoo and Excite etc. monopolise the market? It’s a great thing for us that there is more competition around as we can benefit from it.  So much so, that some of the newer PPC search engines will pay you to sign up AND give you guaranteed hits to your site absolutely free of charge!

How do they work?
You sign up for free, enter your web site details, known as a ‘listing’ and allocate key words to your site.  If someone carries out a search using your keywords, your site will be listed in the search results and your placement will depend on the amount you allocated to your keyword bid.

The higher the bid, the higher you will be placed in the search results with a higher chance of your website gaining a click through.  The minimum bid of most PPC sites is $0.01.

Which keywords should I use?
The most important factor in pay-per-click positioning is choosing the right keywords to bid on. Forget using irrelevant keywords as they will be rejected. Relevant keywords mean targeted traffic, which is the whole purpose of this exercise. Since you're paying every time a searcher clicks on your site, it's crucial to make sure that every click is worth the money.

The cost of a top position for a given keyword is also a factor. Try to find keywords that relate to your site content that are affordable for you. If you can't afford the number-one position for a given keyword, still being on the first page of the search result is still worth it. Select keywords that
refer to your product or service. Just think of the keywords you would enter into a search engine yourself. Following are a couple of tools that can be utilised for keywords.

Go to Jim Tools to select and research large numbers of Keywords for your offer. http://jimworld.nu/keywords.html Good Keywords is a free Windows software tool for finding the perfect set of keywords for your web pages.  http://www.goodkeywords.com

How can I benefit from using PPC search engines?
An account with a PPC search engine is a great way to drive targeted traffic to your site because you only pay for actual clicks to your site. It is risk free and a cheaper alternative to listing with the bigger search engines. Search engines like Alta Vista, Yahoo and Google get plenty of traffic, but they are expensive. For example, with Google it will cost you $1500 for keywords per month with a three month minimum, so that's $4500 with no clicks guaranteed.  With PPC search engines, you can be fairly sure that most of the sites listed are fresh sites with good working links.

How do people find out about the newer PPC search engines?
These companies spend a small fortune on advertising and their advertising budgets are quite large.  Most of the PPC search engines offer affiliate programs and require that you insert a small search box on your website.  This helps them to get further exposure and when someone performs a search from your site through the search box and then clicks on a listing, you will be paid.  The commissions can range from $0.01 per click to 50% of that listing’s bid amount to your advertising
account.

How will you know when a search is made from your website? When you login to your account area and add the search box to your site, your username will already be included within the search box code! This means your account will always be automatically credited with the due amount!

Don’t search boxes take customers away from my site?
People will look over a site to find what they want and when they have finished, they will go to another site.  They’re going to go away eventually anyway - it’s inevitable.  If you provide an extra service through the search box, they will probably come back again and they might even use the search box again in the future.

Analyse your statistics to measure the effectiveness of PPC search engine advertising.  If you don't have your own ad tracking, URL tracking or site visit tracker available to analyse the results of your traffic, use the statistics provided by the PPC search engines to analyse the results of your efforts. Analyse the following items:

- Check to see how many people clicked on your link and the keywords they searched for.
- Look at the projected vs actual click-throughs to see if your listing’s description performed as well as you hoped. Did you receive the type of traffic you hoped for? Take this into consideration when deciding on future keyword purchases.
- Did you sell more products or services as a result of this traffic? If your traffic increased but your revenue didn't, evaluate your keywords and your site. It’s not much use getting the traffic to your site if they won’t buy. Can you think of more appropriate keywords to attract new customers? Don’t forget to include them in your webpage keywords as well.

How much traffic can I generate for Free?
According to my research, you can receive $125 free for joining ~15 PPC search engines collectively, (with the option of increasing it to $625 with an extra $50 payout)!  This roughly equates to a whopping 20,000 Free click through visitors to your site (with the option of
increasing it to 70,000)! This doesn’t even include the extra hits you can generate through the affiliate programs!  Think how much you would normally have to pay for that many guaranteed hits to your site!

So how do I get listed?
I have created a search portal where you can easily search for the keywords related to your site and check the current bids to see how much you need to bid to get high on the search results page. You can join each free PPC search engine and receive Free hits to your site.

Go here now to see how much each PPC search engine is currently offering:

DO YOU TREAT YOUR INBOX LIKE YOUR LETTERBOX?

DO YOU TREAT YOUR INBOX LIKE YOUR LETTERBOX?
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson

When we receive regular letters via snail mail, they're always delivered together and unsorted aren't they?  When you take them into your home, you need to sort them into piles, ie: my mail, your mail, junk mail etc. And when you're away for a few days, you can always tell because your letterbox
is full and the letters are sticking out and sometimes even on the ground!

Thank goodness we don't receive as many regular letters as we do emails in our letterboxes!  If you're away for a few days, or if you're subscribed to 50+ ezines or just happen to receive a large quantity of emails every day, it's very easy to overload your inbox.

There are several ways to manage your emails so they are filed automatically and this can save you plenty of time and make it much easier to find a particular email when you need it.

*Treat your inbox files like a regular file management system
You have your hard drive organised so you can find your files easily enough don't you?  So treat your inbox the same way.  Give it some structure so you can sort, file and find your emails when you need to refer to them again.

*Create folders relating to your business
Think about the business that you do and the emails that you receive regularly.  Categorise the topics of these emails and create folders for them in your inbox. Here's an example for a folder called Business with suggestions for subfolders that could be created:

- BUSINESS
    - Ad Programs
    - Autoresponders
    - Banner Programs
    - Domains
    - MLM Programs
    - Paid to Read Programs
    - Safelists
    - Search Engine Submissions
    - Traffic Generators
    - Web Cash Programs

Under each subheading, you would now need to create a folder with the name of the company / program.  Here's an example of the sub- folders that could be in a Web Cash Programs folder:

   - Web Cash Programs
       - AnyPay
       - ClickBank
       - EGold
       - NextCard
       - PayPal

Use the folders to your advantage so you that you know when you need to follow up and when you have replied to a request.  If you are an affiliate in any program, you would be hoping for people to sign up under your affiliate link.  When they do, what happens?  You receive an email notifying you that you have a new member. You will probably want to follow up with the new member and welcome them so how can you organise that?  When you receive the first email, create a rule from that message so that any emails from that address with the subject line having the words "You have a new member" (or whatever the actual subject says) file them in a folder called "NewMembers" and create a new subfolder from that program's folder.  Here's an example of the file structure:

   - Business
     - Web Cash Programs
     - AnyPay
       - New Members
         - FollowupsSent

See how I've also created a further subfolder called FollowupsSent?  That folder is used to file the welcome email that you have sent the new member. This would only be necessary if you had many new members to follow up. Otherwise you could just file the follow up email in the NewMembers folder.

So you receive an email, see that you have a new member notification in the New Members folder and know that you need to send a welcome email to them. You can forward a welcome email that you have used in the past and change the name and email address etc. to suit.  Then when the email is sent, just move it to the Follow Ups Sent folder.

*Ezine folder
I am personally subscribed to over 50 ezines, so when I received the first issue of a new ezine, I create a new mail rule to automatically file the email in my Ezine folder.  I don't actually have it filed under business as I open that folder several times each day.  I have created a subfolder called Read though so I know that the emails in the Ezines folder still need to be read.  Following is what the first tier of my Inbox looks like:

Inbox
 - Business
 - EvieB's New-Z
 - Ezines
   - Read
 - Misc

If you only belong to a few ezines, then you might want to create subfolders with the name of the ezine and create rules to file them automatically for you.

*Ads that you have sent
I have found it very handy to create a subfolder to my affiliate programs called Ads Sent.  This is where I file the emails that I have sent to ezines for free classified ads and safelist postings etc.  If you file your posted ads this way, they are much easier to find when you want to post another ad in the future.

*Sort the junk mail
It's very important to sort the junk and spam email straight away.  There's no use wasting your time rereading a junk email over and over again each time it is sent to you.  When you receive an email that you class as junk, immediately create a new mail rule from that message to delete any email from that email address or just block the sender if your email program allows. It doesn't stop it from reaching your inbox in the future, but it does stop you from having to read it again.

*Create the rules
When you have existing rules in place, your email should be automatically filed in the appropriate place.  If you receive an email in your inbox that can be filed in your system but hasn't been, create a rule straight away so that it gets filed next time.  If you get into the habit of sorting your email constructively, the only email you should receive into your Inbox should be from new programs you have joined, from new customers etc. or new junk mail - never a shortage of that is there?

*Options
There is an option in most email programs to display the folders with unread messages so that they open and are bolded to notify you that there is an unread email waiting for your attention.  Look at the tools menu and check this option.

All in all, using a simple, straightforward system of file management with your emails will make filing a much easier task and reading your emails less time consuming.  You will also be able to find details such as login info and passwords etc. quickly.

Here's a shock for you.  I just counted my folders and have a total of 340 folders in my Inbox, 309 mail filters and around 2500 blocked email addresses!!  You might be surprised if you count yours as well!

PAID ADVERTISING: HOW TO GET THE BEST
VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY

PAID ADVERTISING: HOW TO GET THE BEST VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson

You've been advertising your site for a while utilising the many free options available for promotion.  But now you have decided to invest some of your hard earned money into paid advertising. How can you be sure that your money will be spent wisely and bring you the kind of response that you need?

This article will inform you of the available paid advertising options and how to find the best deal for your pocket.

Target your market:
Firstly it is important to target your market.  You know what you have to offer and you really need to ensure that the people who see your ad will be responsive.  Make sure that you advertise in
a place that either provides targetted marketing or will appeal to the readers.  If your offer doesn't appeal to the reader, they won't click through to your site.

Next, you need to decide what type of advertising you want to utilise for your marketing.  Following are some of the most popular advertising options available to receive a positive response:

* Solo Ad mailings in Ezines
* Banner Advertising
* PPC Advertising
* Leads

So you decide on the form of advertising that you will use and now you need to find out the cost involved.  This is the important part. You need to shop around! I recommend that you always do this, because there is nothing worse than placing a paid ad, than to find out you could have placed a similar ad for a cheaper price.

Shop around:
When you shop around, make a note of the details that are relevant to your requirements so you can compare prices.  Usually it is a good idea to create a folder in your favorites called AdRates and
add the sites that you look at to this folder.  Then you can easily go back to the sites in the future when you are shopping around again.  If you come across a site that appears to have good
advertising rates, add them to your AdRates folder, then you won't be racking your brain trying to remember where you saw those great prices in the future.

Document your findings:
Create a document that lists the required information so you can really compare.  If you don't use paid advertising methods very often, or even if you do, you can create a document with the
available options for each advertising campaign.

How many people will see your ad?
When using any form of paid advertising, you need to find out how many people will be seeing your ad.  That's one column, "Audience". If you can't find that information out on the ezine's site or in the ezine that you're interested in, email the owner and ask them.  Also ask them if they have any specials on at the moment.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and they want to make a sale.  They
will be very helpful. With guaranteed hits, you buy by the quantity of hits, so make a note of the number of hits you can purchase. If it's banner advertising you're using, make sure the site receives
plenty of page views - ask and find out! Also ensure that your banner will be placed in strategic positions on the site.

When will the ad run?
How long till the ad runs?  Do you have to wait days, weeks, months? Find out as it could be critical to your campaign.  I remember once placing a paid 3 solo ad deal that just had to go out the following Monday.  I ended up waiting six weeks for the ad to go out and about 20 copies of the same ad went out before mine.  I can't tell you how much I sweated out waiting for those ads to be published!  It was torture!  I still haven't figured out how that one worked, but I learned a valuable lesson.  Always ask how long it will be until publication before you pay your money.  Another column in your document could be called "Lead Time" where you  would fill in the time delay until your ad is published.  Some sites even let you know what product the previous ads were promoting so you can
tell straight away if your add has been placed twice the week before (don't advertise the same product there!).

Price:
The all important figure!  Add a column to your document called "Price" and fill it in.  Always keep an eye out for specials.  Many ezine owners have 'spot' specials that might last one day or so
and these are genuine.  I particularly love the 50% off for subscribers specials. Being in Australia where the lousy dollar is worth US$0.50c, 50% off goes a long way!  So read the section in your ezines at the beginning or end of the ads where this information is usually located.

Payment methods:
Check the payment methods available.  Do they suit your situation? Add a column to your document called "Payment Method" and fill in that information.  Most companies have easy internet payment
methods and these days, if you have a credit card, you're all set.

Compare:
Now that you have researched different sites for advertising deals, you can sit down with your document and compare the prices and consider the value you get for your money.  Don't just impulse buy when you could probably get a better deal somewhere else.

Cheaper isn't always better:
Remember too that really cheap ads aren't usually a better option as you will probably get a low response.  There have been a couple of instances where my ads weren't even published at all, but that was another lesson learned.  Don't place an ad with an organisation you have never heard of.  If the offer sounds too good to be true, it possibly is, but check with someone that you trust.  Beware of bulk mailings as well, and I mean the million email mailings.  There is a good chance that you may be accused of spamming and that's just not worth it after all the effort you have put into your business.

Track your response:
Always track the response you get from an ad so you can see whether it was a good spend or not.  Use ad tracking or site tracking tools that are available free around the internet.  With guaranteed hits, make sure you check the amount of hits / page views to your site to ensure you received the guaranteed hits.  With banner ads, use url tracking in the link so you can see a stats report of the response received. Note the response rates in your document and also note any sales that you make from the ad.

Check your ad copy:
If it's a solo ad that you're placing, make sure the ad copy is free of errors, that the URL actually works and that the ad copy is Really Top Class!  You have the reader's attention for a few seconds so make that time count before they click the delete button.  Don't place a classified type ad in a solo ad as it's just a waste.  Give the details required for the reader to know what they will get out of clicking on the URL.  Make them want to click on the URL.  Don't forget that it doesn't hurt to include your name and your signature in a solo ad as well.  You have the room - use it wisely.  Let people get to know you!

It's up to you to shop around, compare prices, document the info and track your ads to ensure that you get good value for money. Using these methods should help you to make sure that you do get good value and don't get ripped off.

Good luck with your paid advertising promotions and I hope you reap the rewards for your efforts! ____________________________________________________________

USE *SNAZZY SCRIPTS* TO MAKE THE MOST
OF YOUR SITE VISITORS

USE *SNAZZY SCRIPTS* TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR SITE VISITORS
© Copyright by Eva Browne-Paterson

We go to a lot of effort to get visitors to our websites don't we? But how can we make them stay there long enough to take a good look around and even better, to make a purchase? How can we capture their information so we can contact them again and follow up to make a sale in the future? How can we imprint our websites on our visitor's minds so they remember them and come back to visit again?

This article will show you some diverse and unusual ways to attract your visitor's attention and add some interesting twists to other commonly used forms of website marketing.

[This article could not have been written without the fantastic resources found at the JavaScript Source. The links provided with each concept take you to a copy and paste instruction page to utilise each script. I recommend that you use a new html document to try out and tweak your scripts as required. Upload the pages to ensure that they work correctly before pasting the code into live pages and uploading to your server.]

*Different Types of Popup Pages & Ideas to Use*
1. Delayed Popup Page: Open another window a specified number of seconds after the first page finishes loading. Then you can be sure that your visitor will read the content if they are in the middle of reading the current page. This popup page can function as an advertising window, some tips on navigating your site, what's new, and lots more. How about "Now that I have your attention.... I want to make sure you don't forget to... or don't miss out on our great special...." What about making the popup window stay on top? (See No. 7).
http://javascript.internet.com/navigation/popup-page.html

2. Must Click to Proceed Popup: Requires the visitor to click your sponsor's banner or link before being able to enter your site or go to another page, the choice is yours. After clicking the banner or
text link, the advertiser's page will open in a new window, and your web page loads in the original window, which is behind the ad window. But who says it has to be a sponsor's page? Promote your own website and products!
http://javascript.internet.com/navigation/must-visit-sponsor.html

3. Exit Window: When a visitor leaves your page, JavaScript can automatically open a new window. Use it to say "thanks for visiting", etc. How about this; "As a parting gift, please enter your name and email to receive our 5 step email course on blah blah which will give you the skills to blah blah"? The visitor's details have just been captured and they have opted in to your autoresponder followup
sequence. Or "Please click on the gift of your choice below" and have a small list of product hyperlinks that send an email from the visitor to an autoresponder for the product chosen? Even better, don't use a text link - use an image! You are increasing your chances of making that sale with each effort you make!
http://javascript.internet.com/navigation/exit-window.html

4. Go Behind Popup: Launches a frameless "go-behind" popup banner window that cannot be closed unless the banner ad is clicked on. The frameless banner window persists, even if the launching browser window is closed. The banner window closes once the banner is clicked and the page of your choice is displayed.
http://javascript.internet.com/page-details/go-behind-popup.html

5. Help Popups: MS Windows help boxes are second-nature to most of us by now. How about having a similar popup help box on your web site? It doesn't have to be for help! It can be an ad for your product or a link to another page on your site! When visitors put their cursor on an item you have defined as having a help popup, it will load very quickly! There are tons of tweaks you can play with to tailor the appearance of the popups to your site. You have to see this script, it's great! Just use your imagination! Very Powerful!
http://javascript.internet.com/messages/help-popups.html

6. Smart Popups: Create popup windows that will center on your screen or popup near your link without popping off the edge of the screen. Also shows how to create a clickable popup or a popup that displays when you hover over the link with your mouse. Cool!
http://javascript.internet.com/page-details/smart-popup.html

7. Stay on Top Window: Use this JavaScript to keep a window 'on top' of the rest of your other windows. Not sure what I mean? Try it out and see! http://javascript.internet.com/page-details/top-window.html

*Other Unusual Ideas*
1. Menu Branding: This keeps your logo (or text) in the bottom right corner of the browser window as your visitor scrolls the page up and down. The logo glides very smoothly when the page is scrolled and looks great. When their cursor is on the logo, a menu appears in its place offering links to different sections of the site. The menu returns to the logo a few seconds after they move the cursor off the menu. Neat! But it doesn't have to be a navigation menu does it? Why can't it be product pages or hyperlinks to autoresponders or wherever it is that you want your visitor to go? It can even be different descriptive subjects all leading to the same place! :^)
http://javascript.internet.com/page-details/menu-branding.html

2. Persistent Layer: Float a layer on the screen so that it stays in place while a visitor scrolls the page. Similar to the menu branding but has no hyperlinks and it has an animation script that slides the layer into position. Make sure the text you use is riveting, like "Last day of sale!", "Click the Giveaway Button!", "Two for One Special Today Only!" or suggestive; "Buy Our Software Now!".
http://javascript.internet.com/bgeffects/persistent-layer.html

3. Multiple Message Scroller: This scroller supports both text and images. Size and speed are adjustable. It works with multiple messages and allows for hyperlinks to distinct URLs. Cool! Make
sure you put your best product info. into the scroller. Sales, images, anything to make your visitor click! http://javascript.internet.com/scrolls/multiple-message-scroller.html

4. Marquee: (Internet Explorer preferred) This JavaScript scrolls information back and forth across a page - the message appears to float back and forth! If you don't have Internet Explorer, it'll
just show the message on the screen. Works great for specials, bonuses, free e-books etc.!
http://javascript.internet.com/scrolls/marquee.html

5. Bookmark Reminder Popup: (Best with Internet Explorer) A bit better than the link waiting to be clicked! Pops up the "Add to Favorites" bookmark window once a week, or after every certain
number of days. Netscape users are given an alert message to remind them to bookmark the site. You define what the bookmark favorite says. Eg; "Great Software! Buy From Here!" or "Best Ad
