The Rise And Fall Of Joe Kumar Part 1 By: Edmund Loh This is a true story of a young brilliant man who made a fortune on the Internet overnight and owed his quick downfall to his ill-gotten wealth. While this is an interesting saga of quick success, fraud and impersonation, this is a must read for all Internet Business owners, new and seasoned alike. This story will serve as an example to all on how NOT to do business online and at the same time demonstrate the E-book he has left us continue to stand as one of the best E-books available online even to this day. ---------------------------------------------------- Early in year 2003, an E-book entitled “30 Days To Internet Marketing Success” was published and took the Internet market by storm. The E-book was written by 61 reputable ‘gurus’ (I don’t really like using this word but anyway…) in Internet Marketing but it was published in the name of the compiler, Joe Kumar. Joe Kumar was an 18 year old student staying in sunny Singapore. His brilliant character was evident when he asked the ‘gurus’ how they would start over if their entire Internet business was taken away from them and all they had left was their marketing know-how. He insisted that they write clear, easy to follow step-by-step business plans that anyone could pick up and run with. As a result, Joe successfully persuaded the 61 ‘gurus’ to produce over 1,100 pages of rich and valuable information, which he compiled into two volumes. Joe sold a large number of his E-books at his official site, www.joekumar.com (no longer available) at $97 each. Since Joe wasn’t an Internet Marketing expert himself, he played his role as a compiler and compiled the detailed work of 61 ‘gurus’ who accepted his 30 day challenge. After all, the 61 ‘gurus’ who participated in Joe’s challenge were all respected and successful people. The E-book was truly a work of a genius because: 1. It involved some of the most reputable and respected Internet Marketers. Joe’s role as a compiler didn’t matter. 2. The content was real and practical. I have read his E-book to find that many of the chapters could actually stand alone as saleable products. 3. The E-book was sold through ClickBank with an unusually high affiliate commission level set of 75%! 4. Joe had so many 'guru' chapters that he could immediately announce in Volume 1 that all purchasers would receive the 'forthcoming' second volume, free-of-charge. 5. As soon as Joe compiled the E-book and setup an affiliate program with Click Bank, he immediately found himself with 60 Joint Venture partners ready to promote for him! Consequently, Joe made a fortune from his sales of his E-books. More importantly, the E-books received almost universal critical acclaim. However, while Joe Kumar quickly became an Internet Superstar using his ingenious concept of challenging 61 ‘gurus’ to Internet Marketing success in 30 days, there was a fatal flaw in his personality. Whether he was an arrogant man and cheater by nature or his character changed due to the mountain of cash piling on the hands of an 18 year old boy, Joe Kumar began to show his ugly side.
